Ringradziou

Hmm, these Corsicans do a fine line in mountains, as well. When we set off up the Restonica gorge, the weather was looking pretty broody, but as you can see, it all worked out well in the end.

The word above is a rough approximation of how to say ‘thank you’ in Corsican. (Usual disclaimers apply. Extra: Pronunciation varies. A fuller version is ‘à ringrazie vi‘.)

Postcard from Corsica

It’s not the sort of thing I generally pay a great deal of attention to, but these Corsicans make exceedingly fine walls. Perhaps they are inspired by the wonderful rock and slate, not to mention the fierce winds that buffet the island.

When not admiring the brickwork, we’ve been stretching our legs along coastal paths and enjoying some delectable food.

Weather is Sweet

A precious few days between contracts allow me to celebrate a cousin’s wedding (not to mention a certain anniversary), catch up with friends and family, enjoy a bit of theatre and some great music, and to think and talk about how individuals might embrace a really good idea.

This pause also offers me the luxury of some perspective on all that’s going on in Kinshasa.
